Pay it Forward

Oh I found this great idea via http://thequickunpick.blogspot.com/
She got it from http://theclipcafeblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/go-see-christy.html
and she got it from... it goes on and on. I don't know who originated the idea, but I found some great blogs by clicking through to see where each lady got their's from.
Here is the deal
It's Pay it Forward for 2011 and this is the deal:

Pay it forward 2011: I promise to send something

handmade to the first 3 people who leave a comment here.

To be eligible, you must also post this in your blog,

offering the same thing to 3 other people.

The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it

must be sent to your 3 people *sometime* in 2011.

I suggest if you are playing along you give yourself an

approximate *due by* date so the people that signed up

arent waiting terribly long.

If this goes well I might be able to do this again later

in the year!

Ready, set, GO!

I am willing to do this. I think it is an amazing way to give someone a pick me up or little surprise! I will do one a month starting in February. Let me know if you want to be one of my lucky three!
While you are here, feel free to follow my blog. i am just starting out, but I promise to have some great projects coming up including the DIY renovation on a shoestring budget of my kitchen.
Have a great day!

Easy Peasy Homemade Bread

One of my loopies sent me this recipe for bread. trying it later today or first thing tomorrow.

In the bread machine pan mix 1 cup of warm water, 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 oz. of active dry yeast (1 packet, or 2.25 teaspoons). Allow 10 minutes for the yeast to activate. Do it this way even though it is contrary to your machine's recommendations. (Just trust me, ok?????) After 10 minutes has passed, add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (I use canola), 1.5 teaspoons of salt, and 3 cups of any combination of white and wheat flour (I use 2 cups white + 1 cup wheat- you can go as much as half and half. More white is ok, more wheat will mess with your yeast). Set your machine for a 1.5 pound dough cycle. When the cycle is finished set your bread- I use two loaf pans, but two free-form loafs are fine too. Raise for about an hour until double in size. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees until top is lightly brown and loaves sound hollow when tapped with your fingernail.

That's it! It is important to do it in the order stated here- I stubbornly added the ingredients in the order my machine manufacturer recommended the first time and it wasn't nearly as good. Best bread EVER!

New Year...New Goal

Ah, a second post in the new year. See, I am already working on my 2011 goals.
Well, if you look to the left, I am taking part in the 21 Day Challenge at Bowl Full of Lemons! Just what I need to get started with my organization!
Sad thing is I spent 3 hours cleaning my room today and 1 hour cleaning and organizing the bathroom vanity drawers yesterday and didn't take pictures. So, I will have to start tomorrow.

Wish me luck! ( I am really going to need it)
As a total aside, I did give my husband the gift of organizing for a Christmas Present. He is allowed to pick one room a week that I purge and get ship shape. I will give him at least a half hour but probably more. I just had to give myself some lead way in case the boutique gets hopping!

Meal Plan for the Week

In an attempt to organize more, post more, and spend less... I have decided to jump into the Meal Plan Arena. So For the first week of January, here we go.
I am trying to use the magazines I receive in the mail to get some new recipes so you'll see some Cooking Lights in here a lot.
