Connor's Cowboy Party

I'm thinking that after being buried in this snow that I should post some pictures from a time, not to long ago, that we were all outside enjoying the perfect fall weather here in New England. I have to say, this was one of the easiest and most fun party that we have ever had.
So without further adu

Pay it Forward

Oh I found this great idea via http://thequickunpick.blogspot.com/
She got it from http://theclipcafeblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/go-see-christy.html
and she got it from... it goes on and on. I don't know who originated the idea, but I found some great blogs by clicking through to see where each lady got their's from.
Here is the deal
It's Pay it Forward for 2011 and this is the deal:

Pay it forward 2011: I promise to send something

handmade to the first 3 people who leave a comment here.

To be eligible, you must also post this in your blog,

offering the same thing to 3 other people.

The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it

must be sent to your 3 people *sometime* in 2011.

I suggest if you are playing along you give yourself an

approximate *due by* date so the people that signed up

arent waiting terribly long.

If this goes well I might be able to do this again later

in the year!

Ready, set, GO!

I am willing to do this. I think it is an amazing way to give someone a pick me up or little surprise! I will do one a month starting in February. Let me know if you want to be one of my lucky three!
While you are here, feel free to follow my blog. i am just starting out, but I promise to have some great projects coming up including the DIY renovation on a shoestring budget of my kitchen.
Have a great day!

Easy Peasy Homemade Bread

One of my loopies sent me this recipe for bread. trying it later today or first thing tomorrow.

In the bread machine pan mix 1 cup of warm water, 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 oz. of active dry yeast (1 packet, or 2.25 teaspoons). Allow 10 minutes for the yeast to activate. Do it this way even though it is contrary to your machine's recommendations. (Just trust me, ok?????) After 10 minutes has passed, add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (I use canola), 1.5 teaspoons of salt, and 3 cups of any combination of white and wheat flour (I use 2 cups white + 1 cup wheat- you can go as much as half and half. More white is ok, more wheat will mess with your yeast). Set your machine for a 1.5 pound dough cycle. When the cycle is finished set your bread- I use two loaf pans, but two free-form loafs are fine too. Raise for about an hour until double in size. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees until top is lightly brown and loaves sound hollow when tapped with your fingernail.

That's it! It is important to do it in the order stated here- I stubbornly added the ingredients in the order my machine manufacturer recommended the first time and it wasn't nearly as good. Best bread EVER!

New Year...New Goal

Ah, a second post in the new year. See, I am already working on my 2011 goals.
Well, if you look to the left, I am taking part in the 21 Day Challenge at Bowl Full of Lemons! Just what I need to get started with my organization!
Sad thing is I spent 3 hours cleaning my room today and 1 hour cleaning and organizing the bathroom vanity drawers yesterday and didn't take pictures. So, I will have to start tomorrow.

Wish me luck! ( I am really going to need it)
As a total aside, I did give my husband the gift of organizing for a Christmas Present. He is allowed to pick one room a week that I purge and get ship shape. I will give him at least a half hour but probably more. I just had to give myself some lead way in case the boutique gets hopping!

Meal Plan for the Week

In an attempt to organize more, post more, and spend less... I have decided to jump into the Meal Plan Arena. So For the first week of January, here we go.
I am trying to use the magazines I receive in the mail to get some new recipes so you'll see some Cooking Lights in here a lot.

Sunday-Left overs to clean out the fridge-chopped salad and chinese
Monday-Lemony Chicken Saltimbocca via Cooking Light Jan 11 w/ garlick spinach
Tuesday-Mini Cheese Meatloaf Minis with mashed potatoes and carrots
Wednesday-Beef Tagine via Cooking Light Jan 11
Thursday- Turkey Tacos Thursday
Friday- away for the weekend
Saturday- Christmas Dinner with the Dalton's- away for the weekend

I will be back later this week with the outcome of my "Union Station Clock" redo via
Attempting Aloha! Let me just say, so easy and I so love it!!!! It is perfect for my new DIY Kitchen redo. Oh joy, another reason to post! So stay tuned

Ebates Rocks!

So ebates is amazing! I joined last week and have already earned 16.00 cash back. For what? For doing things I already do. For example, I had to order from Oriental trading Compnay for my son's cowboy birthday this weekend. I went through the Ebates link and earned myself 8% back and free shipping!
I just got Family Fun Magazine for 4.95 for the year and then received 26% cash back form them! I just used the Ebates 5.00 off magazines coupon to get the 4.95 and then will automatically get the 26% back. You need to check it out. With the holidays coming, if you are an online shopper it is silly to not take advantage of this.
Come Novemeber i will have a nice little check deposited in my Paypal account just in time for my birthday! maybe I'll get myself a little treat.

Check it out here

Life with 3; 5 and under

I read this on blog I am in love with (Moss Moments) and it just emphasized the state I am in. I am so sad to possibly/probably going through the "firsts" with Lexi Rose. With all of my children I need to remember this...

Help me understand that there will be NO GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT stating, “Mommy, this is the last time I will sleep in your bed or ask you to push me on the swing or need you to quiz me on my spelling words or want you to play Candy Land with me or tie my shoes or brush my hair or get me a drink.” Remind me never to overlook these moments as ordinary, because as sure as the seasons change, there will be a last time. Summertime Sewing for Lexi

As a little girl I have vivid memories of my Mother and Grandmother sewing clothes for me with matching bloomers. Some of my favorite pictures are of me in my little pigtails running around after my brothers. I am going to start making some of Lexi's clothes and found this awesome tutorial.

http://www.simplymodernmom.com/2010/04/retro-ruffle-dress-from-a-pillowcase/

Check out her site as it is very inspirational! I already have this ironed and ready to roll!

Now mind you, I am a beginner so mine may not turn out like hers, but we'll see. Look later this week for progress.

Happy Mother's Day! I am off to let some balloons go to heaven with my Mom!

Etsy and Paypal fee calculator

I love this site. i am putting it here for future reference and for all to see. Go check it out!
http://www.rolbe.com/etsy.htm

He breaks down fees and material to have actual cost/profit. I know there are other sources that do this (like my Quickbooks), but this is great for a fast reference.

The 50 States- sing along

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUFeVKeKRQc&feature=player_embedded

So I don't know how to put this clip directly on here, but my son loves music and geography. I showed him the "Animaniacs" version and he fell in love. However, the DVD isn't something I prefer him watching. Then, low and behold, I found a "cleaner" version. He loves it too!

Enjoy
